No. I'm claiming that the two things (number of desktops and number of
desktops of people who have a use for octave) are different and you
can't substantiate your previous claim with the numbers on the
wikipedia page (which refer to the first group).

Then what I said is that if I had to guess (I used that word, that
means I have no data on it -- but then again, neither do you for your
claim) I'd say that the percentage of 'linux users' among 'people who
have a use for octave' is higher than the one you mentioned (that is
very very different from "windows users have no use for octave", don't
know how you read it that way). My rationale is that people who have a
use for octave are people from the scientific field where I feel the
use of linux is higher (but not exclusive).

I'm just refuting your numbers. That is all.
