For what it's worth: I totally agree with Chris. I have no background in
film production, though. I work for a manufacturer of digital cameras
and we tried to apply the existing ICC scheme to our HDR images with
little success. Unfortunately, we have neither the resources, nor the
impact for addressing those issues. We would simply benefit from an
improvement of the ICC standard, regarding HDR.

Other than that, what Chris said seems to make perfectly sens to me.
