The mailbox format shouldnt matter at all, its the imap server that is
important. Make shure youve selected the type of imap server in email
admin and preferences (or just admin->email if your doing default single
domain setup).

If youre using that, then you should NOT have vmailmgr as login type
though.

Now, what email client are u using to send the emails? Have you cat'ed
the mailbox to verify that the email was correctly delivered? Have you
tried another imap client that can read the emails correctly? What is
that client?
