Which Version of plex86 do you use?
At my machine I've never seen any graphical screen inside plex86 :-(
I tried installing Win98 - it failed.
Scandisk run successfully. After that, Win98's last words are:
Die Installation wird vorbereitet...
Systemregistrierung wird überprüft.
translated:
preparing installation...
checking the system registry.
Plex86 crashes (exits suddenly) after Win98 has printed these two lines.
This are the last lines plex86 reported to console:
[...]

bochs: vga: io write: 3cf: reg 05: value = 10h

Here's what I did (very simple):
- boot from a Win98 bootdisk image
Inside the Win98/DOS prompt:
- fdisk /mbr
- create a partition with fdisk
- d:
- setup
The config file is the following:

I also couldn't install Windows for Workgroups 3.11 - after setup copied
some files, plex86 crashed :-(
I use the CVS version of plex86 (2002-05-20)
Is an older version of plex86 more stable?

I'd like to see the _first_ boot screen of Windows98...

I use SuSE 7.3 with a vanilla 2.4.18 kernel.
