Okay, here comes the third (also the last) setup of my other machine at home 
(used for audio/video stuff):

libtoolize (GNU libtool) 1.4.2
aclocal (GNU automake) 1.4-p6
Autoconf version 2.13
automake (GNU automake) 1.4-p6
GNU Make version 3.79.1, by Richard Stallman and Roland McGrath.
Built for i586-mandrake-linux-gnu

I had to edit configure.in to use qt3, but then compilation works fine!
