     Yes, and even the saving of the file from the File menu works correct. When
     the file menu is used, the file is saved with the correct name.

That's good enough for me.  As you said it didn't break anything, and Ben is
happy with it too, I will push it.

The other issues you mention can be fixed as a separate exercise.
