New Debian packaging effort |

Hi folks,
a while ago i did some Debian packaging for Ubuntu which i published in
a PPA https://launchpad.net/~bojo42/+archive/pspp . Before that i
contributed a bit to the Debian Maintainer. Since this guy stepped back
from the maintaining task PSPP in Debian is now rather old and even
orphaned.
Now a new Ubuntu LTS is coming and i would love to see a new PSPP
version in it. Therefore i'm willing to update the Debian package and
submit it for sponsoring, as i'm no Debian Developer. Later i would
request a sync for Ubuntu.
For all this i like to ask you "upstream guys" which source "release" or
git snapshot you can recommend me for using in this packaging effort.
Other recommendations are also highly welcome.
Cheers
Bojo42
