The .pdf specifications are posted at
http://www.medex.hu/~danthe/tdfx/ - it should be possible to implent
voodoo1, voodoo2, and then voodoo3. While 3dfx is orphaned, it's much
more capable than Cirrus Logic and the progression would roughly match
that of qemu's system mode, which is roughly at an early-pentium level
now. And IIRC 3dfx products do not use DMA. While much more complex code
than Cirrus Logic it would make qemu much more powerful.

For starters, voodoo 1/2 emulation could be carried out in a
seperate window using OpenGL acceleration, which should allow early 3d
games to be emulated well without having to be 'perfect'

BTW, I got win98 running on qemu last night. The AIO patch for
win2k didn't work at all - it couldn't boot the 2k iso. And graphics and
networking work well enough to play Starcraft over battle.net on my
P4/address@hidden/1.2v (underclocked for lower power/heat generation) - sound is
not being picked up by 98 yet... it's quite likely there's something
Creative specific in the 98 drivers.
