Not using a copy of win2k I can't say I've tried this,  but I recently
read that the checker can be disabled.  Purportedly one does this by
creating a registry key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"SFCDisable"= dword: ffff ff9d
