It's very neat if you sometimes need devilish anti-ratpoison stuff like
the Gimp. I currently use selectwm so that I can switch window managers
on the fly, and I am glad that I now can ditch this 584k memory eating
background process.
This is also an elegant way of offloading compatibility bloat (like the
"non-tiling subdesktop" in the larswm window manager) from ratpoison.
