Thread starter here. Personally, I'm on Slackware64 14.1. I know it's
often considered as close to vanilla Linux as it gets (not counting
Linux From Scratch). However, as an add-on, I also use Pkgsrc (from
NetBSD). I used that to install Ratpoison, among other software. There
were no Pkgsrc-specific patches (or any patches, for that matter) added
to Ratpoison 1.4.8, anyway.
If you need more details on my system, ask away. Here's my `uname -a`:
Linux localhost 3.10.17 #2 SMP Fri Feb 14 16:45:28 CST 2014 x86_64 AMD
Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
