You're right the only straightforward way of doing it is to not backup
the file in the future, and eventually it will fall out of the backup
when you do a --remove-older-than.

However, I'm 99% sure if you just delete the file and all the
increments from the backup restores will go fine (rdiff-backup will
just complain when it tries to restore the file(s) you deleted.)
