Folks,
I have been wrestling with the bloat required for the later
redhat installs, and was pointed to RULE from the kickstart list.
Now I am here !
My requirements are an unattended install of a base redhat system
with some custom RPMs, on diverse hardware down to 486/16Meg.
I currently use the redhat 7.0 anaconda / boot images, which
do work in 16 Meg.
I rip some modules out of the modules.cgz file to make room for
a 100K kickstart script, which is customised per machine and
edits / replaces exim config files, dhcp, ldap, etc.
Since I need kickstart support, I am inclined to remain on this
path. It is single-floppy, not two, and unattended, or bootable CD.
With the relevant RH7.0 boot disks, I can also netboot.
I use redhat 7.2 RPMs, latest and greatest. Have not tried
Redhat 7.3, but expect it to still work. I of course modify
the comps file and RPM list.
Does rule have anything to offer me ?
Any features from later anacondas that I will miss someday ?
Cheers, Andy!
