I just double-checked.  The third CD of my RedHat 8 set includes the
kernel package kernel-BOOT-2.4.18-14.i386.rpm.  This will boot my 486
notebook, though it has somethings I don't need (e.g. USB) and lacks
others that I do need (NFS support).
