How is Red Hat handling the/any trademark on "Fedora"?

Is it designed to be in the "public domain" then?  Or at least freely usable?

I know they referred to a "Fedora Core" release essentially replacing Red Hat 
Linux.  Maybe only the "Fedora Core" phrase is reserved?
