Could you please raise this with address@hidden,
address@hidden, address@hidden and address@hidden ? I think what
you suggest is good. Maybe removing "directly related" would
be better, hence allowing people to point to commercial
support for their product only. It may also be worth saying
that "Even in this case, if revenue is generated by counting
people who click on the link, it is not allowed. The link
must be a service to the user, not an direct way for the
author to generate revenues." or something along these lines.

Anyway, this is a delicate issue and we need advices from
various people before changing this, I think.

https://savannah.gnu.org/register/requirements.php

says:

  Advertisements

You may not place any revenue-generating
advertisements on a site hosted here.

This is not clear enough.

A Free Software product for which support offers exist
in some way is already an advertisment which might
create revenues. Consider somebody adding a link or
apointer so that people can mini-pay him for the project.
The requirement above has to be interpreted that
these projects cannot be hosted by Savanah.
For me it looks like you do not want to exclude
all commerical Free Software projects.

It has to be okay to point to commercial support
offerings for each single Free Foftware project.

Maybe you can add a bit more of explaination to clarify
this,like:
"But you can point people to commercial support
offerings directly related to your Free Software project."
