A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden
David Rolsky <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: other
Other License: The same license as Perl itself (GPL | Artistic disjunction).
Package: Perl App Installer Project
System name: perlappinst
This package does NOT want to apply for inclusion in the GNU project
The project I want to register is a project to create Perl-based installation
helper modules. The idea is to create modules that help people do things like
write an installer that finds an existing Apache/mod_perl install or sets up a
new one. Or does the same thing for MySQL, and then sets up a new database.
Or one that installs a bunch of files for a template system like Mason.
The idea here is to help people write automated and interactive (command-line)
installers for Perl-based applications, since most Perl-based apps seem to have
horrible installation procedures (mostly consisting a text file and
instructions).
There are no URLs yet because there isn\'t any code yet (well, there sort of
is, but it needs to be made generic).
