A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.

Nikodemus Siivola <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License: Parts of the project will be under GNU Free Documentation
Licence and GNU Lesser General License.
Package: GRT Raytracer
System name: grt
This package wants to apply for inclusion in the GNU project

Description:
Project name: grt (GRT Raytracer)

grt will be a set of free raytracing tools.

Stage 1 -- proof of concept with a usable end product

* libgrtlite: a simple raytracing library written in C with a clean API, that
is light enough to be considered a reference implementation of a raytracing
library. API and fetures will be frozen at a relatively early stage. Licenced
under LGPL.

* a scripting language (ruby? guile?) binding to libgrtlite: this togather with
the library will provide users with a scriptable raytracer ala POV-Ray, albeit
not nearly so advanced -- but free and easyli boundable to any scripting
language. Licenced under GPL.

Stage 2 -- endless improvement

* libgrt: Fork of libgrtlite -- an expanding raytracing library. Licenced under
GPL.

* scripting language bindings for libgrt

* modelling tools for hard-to-script objects

* scene composition studio

Rationale

Scatch an itch: POV-Ray is not free. Panorama is not C. Sart seems dead and is
too Guile-tied. ;)

grt is no yet implemented (though libgrtlite is about 15% done).

Other Software Required:
libpng
zlib
glib
