A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden

Pablo Bosch <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: Artabel Parallel Environment
System name: arpe
This package wants to apply for inclusion in the GNU project

Description:
Arpe is a WEB based build and manage beowulf-style clusters tool. From yous
Arpe server, you can install GNU/Linux on nodes, partition their hard-disks and
make node hard disk snapshots that you can apply later to other nodes. This is
used to clone GNU/Linux installations from one node to N nodes when setting up
the cluster. You can also keep a \"library\" of GNU/Linux installations so you
can test new software and go back to the prevoius version if it is not stable.
Arpe can handle heterogeneous cluster nodes, meaning that the only requirement
is that the node can run some kind of GNU/Linux, different hard disk geometries
or interfaces are taken into account when cloning.
Currently only Redhat 6.x/7.x are supported but Arpe is not tied to a
particular distribution.

Arpe relies on DHCP/PXE/tftp to send an IP/kernel/ramdisk/kernel-options to
cluster nodes on booting.
You can have a different kernel/boot options for each node as well as different
GNU/Linux systems.

There is also :
1) A monitoring tool (pingusd) to check cpu/mem/disk/file systems etc...
activity.
2) An accounting tool (acct) to view user cluster utilisation on a
day/month/year basis
3) Administrator tools a la WebAdmin to configure users, nodes, PBS

Arpe already exists and you can download the latest distribution at
ftp://mail.artabel.net/incoming/arpe/src/
Docs are available at
ftp://mail.artabel.net/incoming/arpe/doc
Redhat 6.2 and 7.x Snapshots at
ftp://mail.artabel.net/incoming/arpe/images

Version 1.1.x is the most stable but is no longer supported.
Version 1.2.x is under development but usable, it has many improvements and can
handle cluster users besides cluster administrators.

Please read the doc (postscript) carefully before using Arpe.

Other Software Required:
Apache
PHP 4
Postgresql (<7.3)
rsuid (included)

Other Comments:
This project was to be hosted on sourceforge two years ago. Now it is much more
stable.
It was also registered as BluePill
