David Bridson <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: Tux Bowl
System name: tuxbowl
Type: non-GNU

Description:
American Football 3D action games frequently feature among the most
popular titles in proprietary games. The latest entry in Electronic Arts'
Madden NFL series sold 1.35 million copies in its first week[1]. Clearly,
there is a big demand for action football games from computer users.

However, to my knowledge, no football action game exists for free
operating systems and no Free Software football action game exists for
_any_ operating system. The lack of football games for free operating
systems acts as an impediment to game players who might otherwise switch
from proprietary operating systems to their free counterparts.

In order to fill this gap, I would like to suggest a new project: "Tux
Bowl". It would provide a 3D American Football action game along the
lines of the proprietary alternatives (e.g. Madden NFL, ESPN NFL 2K5) but
comprised entirely of Free Software, licensed under the GNU General Public
License.

I have begun work on preliminary code for this project which may be found
on my personal web server:

http://www.bridson.co.uk/tuxbowl/ (please do _not_ publish this address -
it sits on the end of a lowly ADSL connection :-)

That site contains a version of the code. This code uses the SDL library
to manage windows and user input and Mesa for 3D Graphics.

Other Software Required:
SDL - http://www.libsdl.org/ (LGPL)
Mesa - http://www.mesa3d.org/ (The parts used currently are under X11 and
LGPL Licenses)
