Subject: [Savannah-help-public] Unacceptable behavior of Malayalam coordinator and www-ml administrator

Hi,

Vivek is Malayalam translator for the last 3 years and he has commit
access to the repository but have not committed a single translations
yet. We have an active team of translators doing GNOME, KDE and Debian
Installer translations and would love to see gnu.org in Malayalam and
is ready to contribute. And now he is blocking other contributors. How
can a person be a language coordinator when he hasn't done any
translations?

When we have requested Vivek to work together he has removed the
existing members from the savannah project (even another
administrator). This is not an acceptable behavior for a member of the
Free Software community.

I request for a review of Vivek's behavior and take an appropriate
action so that contributors are not blocked for personal gains and
have gnu.org translated into Malayalam. I am sure Savannah has
policies for project administrators and they have to follow certain
rules.

Vivek's behavior could have motivated from the fact that he was a
savannah hacker/admin for some time.

I can provide all the email communications that happened between us
(You could check the savannah logs, gnu.org commits to verify these
yourself).

Vivek was a coordinator for Debian Installer and he has not done a
single line of translations (I was backup coordinator and once he left
I took over it).

Vivek removed Anivar and Anwar for asking Vivek to give an opportunity
for new contributors and suggesting to work with already active
Swathanthra Malayalam Computing. He did not give any reasons for the
removal.

Ani Peter is coordinator of GNOME Malayalam
Maxin is coordinator of KDE Malayalam.

Ramakrishnan is a member of GNU Malayalam project.

You can ask any of these persons about Vivek's contributions and even
you can Vivek itself to show his contributions. He has done a lot of
contributions to organising user group meetings and writing
documentation, campaigning for Free Software in Education (we traveled
together for submitting a petition to head of a university here). He
was also a savannah hacker for sometime. I have nothing personal
against him and I appreciate his contributions but this behavior is
not acceptable. I also thank him for bringing me to localisation.

If you don't intervene here and come up with a solution it is really
going to hut Free Software movement in Kerala as we have worked hard
to spread Free Software and people have shown more interest in Free
Software and there is a requirement for Malayalam content that talks
about Free Software and the obvious answer is translation of gnu.org

You can even verify how each of us contributed with FSF India.

(Well I have been with flame wars with many of in the community as I
don't actually look at who I'm talking to but what I am replying to.
You could even look at the flame wars happened at Digital Freedom
Global activists mailing list. I mention these because I don't want to
give an impression that I'm a good guy here and Vivek is a bad guy)

Hmm great way to start a new year !!

Happy New Year to all.

Regards
Praveen
