######### REGISTRATION DETAILS #########

Full Name:
----------
  Multilingual Accent Dictionary Builder

System Group Name:
-----------------
  muadib

Type:
-----
  non-GNU software & documentation

License:
--------
  X11 license

Description:
------------
The "MuADiB Project" is a new project for the analysis of non-native
speaker variants. We aim to develop a tool that will assist speech
applications to be able to be more robust with non-native speakers. The
primary application will be for speech recognition systems to understand
speakers that have a strong non-native accent. This is a joint project
between two universities: University College Dublin, Ireland, and the
University of Carleton, Canada.

The project is in its design stages and there is currently no implementation.
The development platforms will be FreeBSD and GNU/Linux. A Windows port is
likely. We will use the GNU-Compatible X11 License. The project does
initially have 4 people working on it. The implementation will be mostly Java
based, some C will be used for signal processing intense parts. We do intend
for it to be developed as an eclipse (eclipse.org) plugin, but are also keen
to not make it depend on eclipse by having a version that will not require
eclipse.

Other Software Required:
------------------------
Java will be the main dependancy. Eclipse will be an optional dependancy.
The GUI will be aimed at AWT, and it is likely that the implementation will
be JDK1.3 compatible. The system will be tested on a few different java
implementations.

Other Comments:
---------------
Implementation has not been started yet.
