If desired, I'd be willing to try to support the python bindings.

Great! Welcome aboard!

Whence should I get the code on which to do development work?

Do you know how to use CVS? And what platform are you running on (i.e. what kind of CVS client do you have?)

cvs

I've used cvs to get simulavrxx before.
Later I was told that that was not the latest and greatest.
Recent postings suggest that that has changed, but I wanted to be sure.
Is the latest cvs version also the one to
get if one wants to just use simulavrxx?

Whence should I get the code if I want to use the simulator?

There seems to be example AVR applications in the simulavr code base that are compiled with avr-gcc. Or you can build your AVR program.

I think he should aim for running simple_ex1 to verify his installation
is OK. Then move over to anacomp and run it using Tcl. Then move
to Python.

Thanks for the suggestion.

If there are build system issues, just let me know and I will work
with you to resolve them. If you can tell me how things are supposed
to me, I can beat the Makefile's into submission.

Does autoconf work now?
If so, with what versions?
My recollection is that autoconf is exteremely version-sensitive.
That always struck me as strange.
It would seem to defeat the purpose.
