Post-doc in modelling complex socio-economic systems
A post-doctoral position is available at the Swiss Federal Institute of
Environmental Science and Technology (EAWAG), Dübendorf, Switzerland. The
successful applicant will be involved in part of a coordinated research
project on the integrated assessment of regional climate change. Within the
framework of this project, models are developed to explore the
possibilities of low-energy growth paths for economic systems. The
successful applicant would be expected to contribute to the development of
agent-based models with special emphasis on evolutionary change in
socio-economic systems and on the diffusion of innovations enhancing energy
efficiency. The models will be used for policy advice. The work will thus
involve communication with non-experts.
The ideal candidate has experience in the agent-based modelling of
socio-economic systems (SWARM experience would be highly appreciated). An
interdisciplinary background covering knowledge in economics and the
natural sciences is of major advantage. The candidate should be interested
in working in an interdisciplinary team of natural scientists, social
scientists and engineers.
The position is available for an initial period of 2 years. A convenient
starting date would be early spring 1998.
