Oh, I forgot to mention this....

I noticed along the way that although drawing ellipses was OK outside
the Raster window boundaries (like at coord (-10, -7)), drawing an
unclipped point like that would crash the program.  This might be the
case for other geoms that go through the same other-pipeline, like
filled rectangles.  I didn't check.
