You might look at TextPad, a shareware text editor available from
http://www.textpad.com. It is almost as customizable as emacs, but
has a nicer (IMHO) interface under Windows. You can set it up to
automatically point at lines in your code which didn't compile under
gcc, etc. The only emacs-y thing really missing is code pretty-printing
and color highlighting. TextPad doesn't parse your code the way
emacs can.
