ls is the "list" program that tells you what files are in your directories.
-l is the "long" option so that all (most) relevant file info is printed
-a is the "all" option so that all files are shown including hidden ones
-g is the "group" option.... but, uh, I guess that's ignored in gnu ls

So, just "ls -la" would work.

Yep.  Get the "man" package for cygnus.  I believe there's a link
on the cygnus web page.  That's unix for "manual" and it should contain
all the info you need for the basic unix-ish tools cygnus provides.
