many thanks, this is _the solution_.
(May be it would be useful if our friends of swarm.org would place in
the
ftp site the RedHat (6.1) rpm file of kaffe-1.0.b4-2, instead of suggesting
the installation of kaffe-1.0.b4.tar.gz).
