RPM snapshots of swarm-1999-11-21

>From ftp.santafe.edu/pub/swarm/testing, I obtained
swarm-1999-11-21.tar.gz. RPM names can't have dashes, so I renamed this
swarm-2.0.1.991121 and made rpms for 586 and 686 architectures. These
rpms support the kaffe java kit 1.0.5 (which users must upgrade from,
e.g, http://www.transvirtual.com/products/downloads.html. find out
more: www.kaffe.org). I'm giving these RPMS the swarm-2.0.1.991121
version just to keep things straight in my own books and to improve the
chances that users can keep versions separated.

If you want to run the various java swarm programs that Marcus Daniels
has been announcing in here for the past few weeks, you may need to make
this upgrade. I've tested the rpms for the 686 and they work with objc
and java Swarm. To pick what you need, grab a base package for swarm
(swarm-with-hdf5-2.0.1.991121-4.kaffe.i586.rpm) and the kaffe support
package that goes with it
(swarm-with-hdf5-kaffe-2.0.1.991121-4.kaffe.i586.rpm). The word "kaffe"
appears in the rpm version name, to help you see that one batch is
compiled against kaffe and the other against Blackdown JDK

If you currently have a swarm RPM installed, please uninstall it
before you install these, just to try to keep your place clean (ie don't
trust the upgrade to get rid of the old one).

The required hdf5 rpm is one directory above these.

Please note my rpms for the Blackdown JDK are not so up to date. I get a
segmentation fault from the JDK itself when trying to build the rpms.
If somebody has RedHat linux 6.1 with the Blackdown JDK, I'd be
interested to know what happens if I send you a SPEC file and you try to
compile the rpm. Marcus tells me he sees no such segfault from JDK at
sfi and I'm beginning to suspect it is an SMP related issue. I asked at
Blackdown about it, I'm waiting to hear now.
