problems running swarm on SuSE linux 6.3

OK, this one has me stumped.

I have just upgraded my linux box from SuSE 6.1 to 6.3. I have a
bunch of swarm programs that worked great before the upgrade, and can
no longer run. When I try to run any swarm program I get the
follwing message:

swarmapps-2.0.1/heatbugs> ./heatbugs
lt-heatbugs: Too many arguments
Try `lt-heatbugs --help' or `lt-heatbugs --usage' for more information.
swarmapps-2.0.1/heatbugs>

This happens on programs that were compiled before and after the
upgrade. I also tried rebuilding the entire swarm installation from
scratch on the upgraded system, but I get the same message.

Any help from you SuSE users would be extremely appreciated.

Incedentally, the compiler on my system is:

swarmapps-2.0.1/heatbugs> gcc -v
Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/egcs-2.91.66/specs
gcc version egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)

I am considering installing an older version of gcc, but I suspect
that the culprit is really in the libraries somewhere. Any help you
could give would be appreciated, before I go headlong into a series of
trial-and-error solutions.

Thanks
