NO, the optimizations would not be described in the Swarm README because
the Swarm folks do not support them. In the version 2.0 and before, I
was providing optimized RPMS. the flags and steps to compile are listed
here.

Be careful you have GCC 2.95.1 (at least) and the java compiler jikes.
