Thanks for the response. I'm using xpm 3.4k and hdf5 1.2.1 (downloaded
from swarm ftp site). I checked for old versions of xpm and hdf5 in other
directories and I do not seem to have them, so I don't think that's the
problem.
If you look at my original email, where I include the make output, you can
see that at the point where the compile fails, it's including a bunch of
libraries where swarm was compiled, not where it was installed. I have a
feeling that this is related to the problem.
Any help you can provide, is much appreciated.
