I'm having problems getting gcc3.1to work. I think the first step we
have to document is how to compile, install and use gcc3.1 in MacOSX.
I have now a weird compiler. I was able to compile tcl and tk with
gcc3.1 without problems, but blt fails totally due to a problem with as,
for example:
Here is what I did.
1. I downloaded gcc3.1 from Apple cvs
2. downloaded Csu and cctools from the same place.
3. install cctools and Csu.
4. cd /usr/lib; ln -s crt1.o 3crt1.o
5. Compiled gcc3.1 the GNU Way, the Apple Way doesn't work for me.
6.Install gcc3.1
7. setenv CC "gcc -no-cpp-precomp"
8. the file /usr/local/libexec/gcc/darwin/ppc/as was missed. So I took
as from /usr/libexec/gcc/darwin/ppc/as. I don't know if that is right,
but I have no idea why "as" was no compiled.
