I use 0.47 here too and it looks like it's working fine here. Is your
update maybe only partial successfull (that is, one or more broken
source?). Synaptic only cleans the "new files" list after a complettly
successfull update.

I'm not quite sure about this. Synaptic complains "Some index files
failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead,"
but as far as I can see the only files that fail to download are not
Packages, but Release files. One of these "missing" files is from a
local directory...
If the Release files are the problem, what could be done to make synaptic _not_ trying to dl them at all?
