That's an old bug, and it is texmacs specific.

My best guess is unclutter cursor appearance/disappearance sends a
sequence of X events that the texmacs on-of-a-kind toolkit is not
prepared to handle. Once upon a time, somebody reported he was able to
reproduce the problem with the "hide cursor" feature of some gnome
terminal.

Put that one in the same bag as the perennial presentation mode bugs,
menu placement problems, etc. Texmacs should have switched to GTK long
ago, that would have avoided those problems and helped the market
penetration a lot. For example I was unable to suggest integration of
TeXmacs into Ubuntu because of (among other GUI badness) the oddball
toolkitr. But you know, "that's not a priority" and all that sort of
thing.

I'm going back to the peanut gallery now.
