And the script doesn't display any error about mktemp missing ? But indeed,
mktemp might be part of only latest version of MSYS. I didn't check if it was
present in older version. conftest.x could be use as a fallback in this case.
Anyway, I reverted the change for the moment. Let me know if mktemp + conftest
fallback is ok for you.

Compared to the $RANDOM approach this solution is far less random. Moreover,
as the bashism is still present but commented, These two facts made me thing
it was a temporary solution while looking for something else.
