The first time I run, after cycling power, I get this: /usr/local/bin/uisp -dprog=stk500 -dserial=/dev/ttyS1 -dpart=AT90S8515 --rd_fuses Programmer is not responding.
Not sure but I wonder if the serial data rate is wrong, the STK500 works at 115200bps. Might be an idea to add the serial speed to your command line to be certain. From memory the earlier non-stk500 versions of uisp had a default of 19200.
