Good to know there is new people interested in coding inside yafray.
Feel free to ask here about any problem you find. As others have said, I
would suggest to try sss instead of another GUI unless you have a very
new idea for it.

And about this ...
> CFLOAT and PFLOAT are float....

They are defined to let us change the float precision with a single
option to configure. So if you run configure --enable-doublecoords your
points will use double instead of float. More options could be added of
course for the remaining types. Just a quick note about them

PFLOAT for world spacial magnitudes like distances, points, and so
CFLOAT for color/energy/light magnitudes
GFLOAT general purpose (anything that does not match the two other
types)

By default all of them are defined to float (faster and less memory).
