Issue
    M-: (TeX-source-correlate-determine-method) RET
to verify the function returns the right method.  In addition, check
the value of the variable `TeX-source-correlate-method':
`TeX-source-correlate-determine-method' is used to determine the
method only if `TeX-source-correlate-method' is set to `auto'.
