Copying lastpage.sty under texmf-local and changing according to
your suggestion does the trick. Thanks a lot.
Is it possible to patch preview-latex to not getting trapped on
this problem? I hope so, because then I can just wait for the
next release then forget about my local lastpage.sty, and
everything is on par again.
I have just tried, there are at least 113 other packages with a
trailing (Whatever) in the provides-line, most times it is the
authors name, so I think there are strong arguments to patch
preview, or you will have a hard time trying to persuade 113
package authors. It might be easier to write a previewifier in
this case to run over the texmf tree. ;-) There are quite a lot
popular packages affected.
