New developments were originally in the "testing2" branch, but those changes
in it, and the only noteworthy changes that were made from the time it was
split from stable1 relate to ipv6, will get merged shortly into stable1 for a
1.2.0 release. "testing" has slightly outdated versions of some source files
by now, but everything related to the ipv6 changes have been kept current
with changes in stable1.
