Can you send a few commands duplicating the problem that caused you to report this in the first place? Removing the "/"s from CVSROOTs shouldn't hurt, but I tried your export command as described with 1.12.1 and had no problems.I had been using 1.11, but just got the same thing with 1.12. Apparently it starts to do a checkout, and creates the CVS directory underneath. Then it looks and sees the CVS directory, and says "hey, I can't export to here!" Please let me know if you have further questions.
What system are you on? I really can't duplicate this problem, though I can find other problems when there is a slash on the end of cvsroot. Are you sure that your sql directory didn't already exist with a CVS subdir already? That is the only way I can produce that error message.
