My first encounter w/ ddrescue, and considering the gravity of our current situation (single drive failing in a striped set) I was SO wanting this to salvage SOMETHING!?!? Anyway, in the beginners' tutorial section most of the ddrescue calls include the -f switch that my vs doesn't recognize (or explain via -help, of course). Though it's not likely to turn the corner for us, I guess I should at least report my confusion at the discrepancy.
The "-f, --force" option was added to ddrescue in version 1.13, so it is normal that ddrescue-1.12 does not know about it.
I guess you read the "beginners' tutorial section" from the online manual instead of from your installed manual.
