The documentaion says "Every bad sector is tried only one time per pass." Is there a way to increase retries per each failed sector before proceeding to the next?
Currently not. But adding it is certainly doable.
Looks to me 8% reads got stuck and all the time is spent in long timeouts. Retrying non-stuck sectors on the spot wouldn't hurt.
Maybe it doesn't hurt but, have you verified that it does indeed make some good? And how do you propose to tell the stuck sectors from the non-stuck ones?
You also mention "remaining bad sectors" and "non-tried area count", so I am not sure what do you exactly want ddrescue to do.
