I have examined the documentation provided with 1.19-rc1, and see that you specifically did not have a space shown for that option '-P[LINES]', which is understandable do to the optional variable. So I respectively withdraw this as a reported bug.
Effectively the argument for '-P' is optional.Dear all, feedback about making the argument mandatory, and about the default number of lines to show (currently 3) is welcome.
To be more accurate, the proper version is "/usr/local/share/info/ddrescue.info", but there was an older version "/user/share/info/ddrescue.info.gz" dated from June of 2012. Did you make a change in the past on where the info file was located? Or is that from someones packaging? Maybe I had used the Ubuntu repository to install once previously?
Before installing ddrescue from source you should remove any previous ddrescue package installed by your distro. Distros usually compress info files and man pages, and "make install" does not overwrite the stale compressed files.
The same problem arises if ddrescue is installed in '/usr' and then also in '/usr/local' (or vice versa).
Best regards, Antonio.
