This makes two inconveniences instead of one; having to compile ddrescue oneself, and having to write --no-blockfile when using a non-self-compiled ddrescue. All of it for the benefit of those who refuse to follow the wise advice offered to them in the manual, the man page and the --help output.
As I read somewhere, "build a system that even a fool can use, and only a fool will want to use it".
