Hi,
I found your program ddrescue and am hoping to use it to restore files from
my crashed hard drive, but I had a few questions begin I begin, just so I
avoid further damaging my drive.
Right now, my computer hangs when it attempts to mount the crashed drive
and I am unable to access the drive or any subfolders. The drive still
spins and does not make any abnormal noises. Am I correct in thinking this
is the appropriate time to use ddrescue or do I need to already be able to
mount the device?
Second, in using dd_rescue would I simply select the entire drive (so D:\ )
to a new location (e.g. C:\Users\me\Documents\ ) and then let it run or
would I have to specify sub-directories of my external drive?
Thank you for your help and any other advice you can offer! It seems like a
wonderful tool that may save a ton of my data and time.
