Ed is all about backward compatibility, and removing features is not
the way toward new releases. I hope this is not one of your jokes,
like the announcement that the '-' argument was being removed.
You are digging a Very Deep Pit for yourself here. You may think
'ed' is a joke, but it has a community that mainly uses it for
scripts and does not expect those scripts to break.
If you want, turn off '%' when POSIXLY_CORRECT is true.
