Because they could easily share data they would suceed, Nupedia 
could get good articles from Gnupedia, and if Nupedia succeeds 
with Gnupedia articles then Gnupedia succeeds as well.

I think the relationship between Nupedia and Gnupedia will be 
much closer to the relationships between Linux distros. Indeed in 
the long term it might become exactly that relationship, with 
Nupedia basically becoming a distribution of Gnupedia.
