Update of bug #23182 (project pspp):
Severity: 5 - Average => 1 - Wishlist
Release: None => Post-0.6.0

Follow-up Comment #1:
I think that the issue of command line argument processing needs to be one of
the first considerations after the forthcoming release.
Some of the questions to be considered are:
* Which command line options need to be common between pspp and psppire ?
The common ones should have a common parsing subroutine.
* How should psppire know what to do with a filename given as an argument?
It has to decide whether to open it as a system file, portable file or syntax
file. Can we rely on the filename suffix?
* It would be useful to be able to give a syntax fragment as a string on the
command line.
* We need to make sure that we get the syntax of the command line right, as
subsequent changes in later versions causes pain for users.
